Osorio has been head of the ICO since March 2002. Brazilian Jose Sette, the ICO's Head of Operations, will serve as acting Executive Director until a permanent replacement is appointed. He had previously been a special advisor on coffee and trade issues to Colombia's then finance minister Juan Manuel Santos. Santos was elected president of Colombia in June. "It has been an interesting career in trade and coffee. Now to the political arena in New York," he said, adding he would be leaving the ICO later this month and returning to Colombia before taking up his new position on November 1. Posts held by Osorio earlier in this career include Colombia's ambassador to the World Trade Organization and the country's permanent representative to the ICO.
