Vietnam June coffee exports drop 11.5 percent
 
   HANOI, June 25 (Reuters) - Vietnam's June coffee exports dropped 11.5 percent from the same month last year to an estimated 85,000 tonnes, or 1.42 million bags, the government said on Thursday.

 The General Statistics Office estimated coffee exports in June would bring total shipments in the first nine months of the October 2008 to September 2009 crop year to 982,300 tonnes, or 16.37 million bags, a surge of 20.7 percent to 16.37 million bags.
   The office revised up the export volume in May to 92,000 tonnes from 90,000 tonnes previously estimated.
   Revenues from coffee exports in the first six months of this year ending June dropped an estimated 12.2 percent to $1.1 billion, the statistics office said.
   On Wednesday, domestic robusta prices in Vietnam fell nearly 6 percent to a 27-month low as London coffee futures fell to near contract lows. [ID:nHAN467589]
   The coffee crop year in Vietnam, the world's second-largest producer after Brazil, runs between October and September, starting with a four-month harvest.
   Coffee is the country's second-largest agricultural export in terms of value after rice.
   Vietnam may still have around 4 million bags left unsold, after deducting the shipments so far this crop year, and 1 million bags used for domestic consumption.
   Traders have estimated the harvest that ended in January at 19.5 million bags and farmers had also carried forward 1.8 million bags in stock from the previous crop year.
   On June 13 the U.S. Department of Agriculture forecast Vietnam would export 18.8 million bags from the current 2008/09 crop year, making up about 20 percent of the world's total. (Reporting by Ho Binh Minh; Editing by Michael Urquhart)
